The Oberbremsrätekonferenz

The Oberbremsrätekonferenz is a specialist meeting and conference of experts from the railway industry in Central and Southeastern Europe. Since it was founded in 1995 by the founding members Knorr-Bremse GmbH and ÖBB, the conference has been held every year and a half in Austria or in a country in Southeast and Central Europe together with local partners. While in the year it was founded there were still participants from Austria and Hungary, today personalities from many European countries come together to exchange experiences.

As part of each conference, people who are particularly deserving in the field of railway braking technology are awarded the title of “Oberbremsrätin” or “Oberbremsrat”. There are now 60 people on the exclusive committee.

The conference participants from Southeast and Central European countries are high-ranking specialists from technical and economic areas of railway companies from management, project management, sales management, technology and construction. They are proposed by the event committee.

The conference is chaired by DI Frank Minde, Deutsche Bahn AG and head of the brake department at the UIC in Paris. The actual Oberbremsrätekonferenz is chaired by DI Manfred Reisner, Managing Director of Knorr-Bremse GmbH, Austria.

The 23rd Oberbremsrätekonferenz and 21st International Central European Conference will take place from April 22nd to 24th, 2025 in Vienna.
